CANDACE LEE EGAN
Candace Egan is a screenwriter and professor of Film and Media Arts with a background in journalism and corporate media. Her feature and TV pilot scripts have received numerous accolades including a Stowe Story Labs Fellowship, finalist in Stage 32’s Grown Up Movies Contest, semifinalist in the Page International Screenwriting Awards, and she was selected twice for the CineStory Feature Lab. Early in her career, she fell in love with the camera and the power of visual storytelling and now enjoys bringing her vision to life in the screenplays she writes. Tapping into her own adventurous life, she is inspired to write female-driven stories about mature, authentic women who transform into vibrant, adventurous versions of themselves and learn that it’s never too late to explore new opportunities
THE BACKSTORY
In 2019 I ventured into narrative screenwriting and in spring 2021 I did a sabbatical to go in-depth into the study of screenwriting and the use of images to spur story ideas. From January through May of 2021 “Muted Voice” went through multiple rewrites thanks to invaluable feedback sessions from mentor Warren Lewis (Black Rain, The 13th Warrior) and advisors Greg Loftin (Writing For the Cut), Pam Wallace (Witness) and Kathie Fong Yoneda (The Script-Selling Game).
