Film Projects -REVOLUTION’S WIFE

REVOLUTION’S WIFE Short Film – Production March 6, 7, 8, 2026 in Fresno, CA.

REVOLUTION’S WIFE is a proof-of-concept film introducing the story of Padmavati Chandra, the wife of a leader of the revolutionary Gadar movement. The story takes place in 1917, San Francisco, where, against her knowledge, she is caught up in the Indian-German conspiracy to overthrow British rule in India.

This short film is about a forgotten revolutionary, told by two women who refuse to let her stay forgotten. Hi, we’re Candace Egan and Reenita Hora — co-writers, co-producers, and long-time story collaborators. We’re here to tell you about a woman history tried to erase — and how you can help us resurrect her.

REVOLUTION’S WIFE is a short historical drama based on Padmavati’s life — told not through the lens of the men who made the headlines, but through the woman who lived the consequences.

We’re bringing her story to the screen. And to do it right, we need you.

We’re raising funds for production and post-production of REVOLUTION’S WIFE — to be filmed in Fresno, California, part of the very Central Valley where early South Asian immigrants first laid roots in America.

Fresno was home to many Gadar revolutionaries, Punjabi farmers, and the quiet spaces where radical ideas were debated, homes were opened, and legacies began. These fields and living rooms nurtured not just crops—but a movement.
